Woman Strangled to Death in MBTA Accident

|

Helen Jackson, a Boston area woman, was strangled to death in an MBTA subway station. Jackson was at the State Street subway station in Boston when her clothing became caught in an escalator. Unable to free herself, Jackson died of asphyxiation.

Her estate has since sued the MBTA. In a recent decision by a Massachusetts Superior Court judge, the MBTA was ordered to allow Plaintiff's counsel to access their database. The MBTA had repeatedly ignored requests by Plaintiff for all documents dating back to 2005 regarding prior escalator accidents. Finally, after 19 months of inaction on the part of the MBTA, they were ordered by the judge to allow Plaintiff's attorney to look themselves. This should warn the MBTA off of their previous delay tactics and force them to comply with discovery requests in a timely manner.

If you have been injured on MBTA property, it's possible you have a claim for negligence against them. Contact our office today for a free consultation.
