Scooter Operator Dies After Rear End Collision

|

A 54 year old private school teacher was driving her motorized scooter in Boston when she was rear ended by another driver. The scooter driver was at an intersection preparing to turn left when she was hit from behind and thrown from the scooter. She sustained multiple serious injuries, including traumatic head injuries, which ultimately became fatal.

The other driver argued that the scooter operator was at fault, alleging that the scooter operator made a sudden movement from the right, crossing in front of his vehicle to make the left turn. However, the plaintiff argued that the defendant failed to exercise due care in operating his motor vehicle and failed to stop or avoid the plaintiff while she was making her turn.

A settlement was eventually reached in the amount of $1.2 million.
