Burglary Suspects Arrested and $40,000 Worth of Collectibles Recovered

|

Following a thorough investigation, Topsfield Police were recently able to arrest three suspects and recover $40,000 worth of collectible items that had been stolen from a nearby home. The suspects in the apparent home burglary were 25-year-old Jonathan Wood, 24-year-old Amanda Cella and 24-year-old Thomas Hume-Vahey. The recovered property included collectible guns, knives, fishing poles, narcotics and coins, although detectives on the case suspect there are still more items to be recovered.

Cella was charged with receiving stolen property worth over $250 and was being held without bail at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution. She was arraigned on Wednesday, November 28th. Wood and Hume-Vahey were both charged with breaking and entering during daylight with intent to commit a felony. They were being held on $20,000 cash bail at Essex County Correctional Facility and were arraigned on November 29th.

Burglary is the act of entering another person's property, without their permission, with the intent of committing a crime. It should be noted that the commission of a crime, while on the other person's property, does not have to take place in order for an individual to be charged with burglary. There simply must have been an intent to commit a crime. Some of the crimes often associated with burglary are theft, breaking and entering, assault and battery, and more. The circumstances surrounding the burglary will determine whether or not the individual will be facing misdemeanor or felony charges.
